What's The Biggest Timeline Mistake?
One of the biggest wedding timeline mistakes couples make is not building in enough cushion.
Most of the time, nobody plans for the day to run behind. It just happens. Hair and makeup take a little longer, family gathers more slowly than expected, transportation gets delayed, or one part of the schedule simply takes more time than it seemed like it would on paper.
That is exactly why extra cushion matters so much.
When you build a little breathing room into the day, everything feels less stressful. Even if things do run a little late, you are not immediately panicking or feeling like the entire day is falling behind.
Travel time is another big one.
If your maps says a drive will take 20 minutes, I almost always recommend planning for more than that. Especially in New Jersey, traffic and summer travel can change things quickly. Giving yourself that extra buffer can make a huge difference.
The best wedding timelines are not the ones packed as tightly as possible. They are the ones that leave enough room for the day to actually be enjoyed.
If I could give one piece of timeline advice to almost every couple, it would be this: build in more cushion than you think you need.
