Should You Practice Posing Before Your Wedding?

Short answer: absolutely not.

When couples start planning their wedding, there are already plenty of things to think about. The last thing you should be stressing about is how you're going to look in photos.

Your photographer’s job is to guide you in a way that feels natural and comfortable. Trying to rehearse poses ahead of time can actually make things feel more awkward because you’re thinking too much about how you look instead of just enjoying the moment.

Most of the time, the best photos happen when couples are simply being themselves—walking together, laughing, or sharing a quiet moment during the day. A good photographer will give gentle direction if needed, but the goal is always to keep things feeling authentic.

When you look back at your photos, you shouldn’t feel like you were “posed.” You should feel like you’re just seeing yourselves having an amazing day together.

If you want to practice something ahead of time, a choreographed first dance can actually be fun to prepare for—but posing practice definitely isn’t necessary.
