Is Pinterest Helping or Hurting Your Wedding Photo Expectations?

Pinterest and Instagram have become huge sources of inspiration for couples planning their weddings—and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

In fact, I love when couples share ideas or inspiration boards. It helps me understand the types of moments, styles, and vibes that they’re drawn to.

The key is using those images as inspiration rather than a checklist.

Every wedding is different, and many of the photos you see online come from highly controlled environments like styled shoots. Those shoots are designed specifically to create perfect images, often with models and unlimited time to experiment with lighting and locations.

A real wedding day is a little different.

That’s why the best approach is to share inspiration but trust your photographer to capture your day in a way that reflects their own style and your real experience. After all, you likely hired them because you already love how they photograph weddings.

Pinterest can absolutely help spark ideas—but the goal isn’t to recreate someone else’s wedding. The goal is to document yours.
