How Did I Choose My Own Wedding Photographer?

This is a question I used to get all the time: if you are a wedding photographer, how do you choose someone to photograph your own wedding?

The truth is, it was not easy.

I know so many incredibly talented photographers, so narrowing it down to just one person felt like a big decision. Ultimately, it came down to two things: style and connection.

My wife and I both felt that Logan Roquemore’s Photography style fit our personalities perfectly. When we looked at her work, we could imagine ourselves in those kinds of images and knew it would represent our day in a way that felt authentic to us.

Looking back at our wedding photos now, we still feel that same way. We truly cannot imagine anyone else documenting that day.

Our wedding also happened during a very unusual time—May 15, 2020—so the day ended up being a much simpler celebration than originally planned. In many ways, it felt closer to an elopement.

That made the photos even more meaningful because they captured such a unique moment in our lives.

Choosing the right photographer ultimately comes down to finding someone whose style you love and whose work feels like it reflects you as a couple.
