Is An Unplugged Ceremony Worth It?
A lot of couples wonder whether an unplugged ceremony is actually worth it or if it might feel awkward asking guests to put their phones away.
In my opinion, this is one wedding trend that I fully support.
And it’s not just because you want to avoid someone stepping into the aisle with an iPad or phone at the wrong moment. It’s really about giving your guests permission to be fully present.
So many people experience important moments through a screen, even when they’re sitting right there in front of them. An unplugged ceremony helps shift the focus back to what is actually happening in real life.
It also means your professional photo and video team can do what they’re there to do. We’re already in the best positions, looking for the best angles, and documenting the moment intentionally. Most guest photos will never be looked at again, and unfortunately they often include phones visible in the background of your ceremony photos.
To me, that’s the part that can actually feel awkward.
An unplugged ceremony creates a more intentional atmosphere and helps everyone slow down and enjoy the moment instead of trying to capture it themselves.
If being fully present matters to you, it’s absolutely worth considering.
