Do you really need a second photographer?
One of the most common questions couples ask is whether they really need a second photographer on their wedding day.
My honest answer is usually this: as good as I am, I still can’t be in two places at once.
That’s really where a second photographer becomes valuable. There are so many moments throughout a wedding day where having two different angles or two people covering different parts of the day makes everything more efficient and complete.
For example, during the ceremony, I’m usually positioned at the front so I can capture the groom’s reaction and the bride walking down the aisle. But one of the shots I love including whenever possible is a wider angle of the bride coming down the aisle, especially with the train behind her and the groom’s reaction visible from another perspective. That’s the kind of moment a second photographer helps make possible.
A second photographer can also help portraits move more quickly and smoothly. And if both of you are getting ready in different locations, it often becomes much more than a luxury — it’s the only way to fully cover everything without missing important moments.
For most weddings, having a second photographer is absolutely worth considering. It gives you more coverage, more variety, and a smoother overall experience.
