Piece of Mind
Don’t stress! I promise it’s all worth it. Understandably there are plenty of concerns when it comes to planning a wedding. One of those things could be confidence in booking a vendor or service which could lead to worry and hesitation. With unforeseen circumstances like covid-19, it could make it even harder to feel good about all your decisions. Here are just a few things that might make you feel better.
Get to know your photographer
Obviously past client reviews are super helpful when it comes to gauging trustworthiness. Not only are they useful but necessary when it comes to making sure other couples are happy with the service they’ve received. However, in my opinion nothing is more reliable than sitting down with any of your vendors and talking about the things that are important to you. Not only does this create expectations for your vendors, but it may also lead to other questions you hadn’t thought of just by communicating and hearing their response.
I even recommend sitting down (or virtually meeting) with your photographer more than once if you feel like you need to. At some point be sure to chat about things other than the wedding to help get a feel for their personality. The best feeling ever is clicking with the right person and feeling a thousand percent confident you made the right choice.
Ask about contract policies
I know it’s not something we want to think about but you have to know what your guidelines are incase things don’t turn out as planned. This is where things absolutely differ from one photographer/videographer to the next. At this point every vendor should expect the question “what if we need to cancel or postpone?”
For me the answer is as follows:
If things need to me adjusted for any reason at all, the deposit is non-refundable, however the deposit can be used to transfer to an open date with no penalty, or used towards other services and products I provide. This means at the very least, if heaven forbid nothing works out, you can still use anything you’ve paid for photo sessions as well as prints/albums.
I, like so many others, am doing whatever I can to help every couple feel like they will be taken care of no matter what happens.
Don’t worry!
If you’ve done just these two things you’re in a good position. All you have to do is trust the professional that is also kind of now your friend. I know for me as a professional I put everything I have into making sure everything is perfect. The important thing is communication so feel free to reach out to your vendors as much as you want or when you’re feeling a little stressed and I have no doubt they will put you at ease. All you have to do the day of is have the time of you life.
Just remember what I said, communicate. So, if you haven’t done so already, reach out to have a conversation so we can chat a be basically best friends!
